Privacy Statement

Modern Consumer Law in Perspective (MCLP) is committed to protecting the personal data of its authors, reviewers, editors, and readers in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Data controller. The journal is operated by its editorial team, which acts as data controller for the personal data processed through this site. The editors can be contacted at editors@modernconsumer.eu.

What we collect and why. We process the names, email addresses, institutional affiliations, and, where provided, ORCID identifiers and biographical notes of registered users. These data are collected for the exclusive purposes of managing the editorial and peer review process, publishing accepted contributions, and communicating with users about their submissions, reviews, or account. The legal bases for this processing are the performance of our publishing agreement with users (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and the editors' legitimate interest in operating a scholarly journal (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Publication. For accepted articles, author names, affiliations, and the content of the contribution are published permanently as part of the scholarly record. This serves the public interest in the integrity and attribution of academic research and will not be erased upon request, in line with the archiving exemptions of Art. 17(3) GDPR.

Cookies and analytics. This site uses functional session cookies required for logging in and operating the platform. Aggregate, anonymised usage statistics are collected to monitor readership; they are not used to identify individual readers or shared with advertisers.

Data sharing and storage. Personal data are stored on servers located in the European Union and are not sold or shared with third parties, except with service providers strictly necessary for operating the journal (hosting, email delivery) and, for published works, with indexing and archiving services as part of standard scholarly dissemination.

Retention. Account data are retained for as long as the account is active. Data connected to submissions and reviews are retained as part of the journal's editorial record.

Your rights. You may access, rectify, or request erasure of your personal data (subject to the publication exemption above), object to or request restriction of processing, and request data portability by contacting the editors at editors@modernconsumer.eu. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority.
