Author Guidelines

Modern Consumer Law in Perspective (MCLP) publishes original scholarship on consumer protection law and policy, with particular attention to digitalisation, sustainable consumption and consumer vulnerability. While the journal centres on developments in European Union consumer law, it welcomes contributions examining consumer law theories or presenting empirical findings beyond the EU context. We particularly encourage work addressing overarching questions and systemic challenges rather than narrowly localised issues, and we expressly welcome interdisciplinary contributions from fields including law and economics, computer science, communication studies and economics. MCLP accepts submissions for three yearly issues. Current and forthcoming calls are announced on the journal's website.

Types of contributions

  • Research articles: [8,000–12,000] words, including footnotes. Original research employing legal, empirical, or critical theoretical methodologies. If your article exceeds this wordcount, please contact the editorial office before submission to discuss publication options.

Originality

Submissions must be original, unpublished work not under consideration elsewhere. By submitting, authors confirm that the manuscript is their own work and that all sources are properly attributed. Any use of generative AI tools in preparing the manuscript must be disclosed in a note accompanying the submission. See also our AI Guidelines.

Language

Submissions are accepted in English. Manuscripts should be carefully edited before submission; both British and American spelling are accepted if applied consistently.
